The Home Depot Security Breach - 09/26/2014

    What happened
On September 2nd, Home Depot disclosed that they were investigating a possible breach of their payment data systems. Home Depot has now confirmed that those systems have in fact been breached, which could potentially impact any customer that has used their payment card at Home Depot's U.S. and Canadian stores, from April 11, 2014 - September 7, 2014. Home Depot does not have any evidence that the breach has impacted stores in Mexico or customers who shopped online at

    What's next
Specific information regarding affected cards is now being provided to card issuers by MasterCard and Visa. Oneida Savings Bank will be contacting affected customers by mail to inform them that their card was included in this compromise. Replacement cards will be mailed to those customers who are affected, and their current card will be closed within a reasonable time frame, which will be disclosed in the notification letter.

How Oneida Savings is working to protect you
As you know, Oneida Savings Free Fraud Alert Service regularly monitors customer card transactions and notifies you via phone call or text message if any transaction appears fraudulent in nature. Additionally, Oneida Savings will be carefully monitoring affected cards for transactions fitting specific fraud criteria, including transactions over certain dollar limits that are performed outside of the standard customer purchasing patterns, during that window of time between the mailing of the replacement card and the closing of the compromised card.

If you notice any suspicious activity on your card, please notify us immediately at (315)363-2000. We will assist you by researching the activity on your account, as well as reporting any confirmed fraudulent transactions that may be discovered.
