The IRS recently became aware of a fraudulent scheme targeting EFTPS users. The scheme uses an email that claims your tax payment was rejected and directs you to a website requesting your sensitive and personal information. The website also contains malware that will attempt to infect your computer. What you should do if you receive an email, voice mail or text: If you receive a message claiming to be from the IRS or EFTPS, please:
EFTPS is a tax payment system provided free by the U.S. Department of Treasury. Did you know you can pay federal taxes electronically via the Internet or phone 24/7? Visit EFTPS to enroll. Security Alert: Customers have been reporting that they are receiving phone calls that claim to be from Oneida Savings Bank, stating that their (debit) cards have been closed or that they have gone over their limit on their card. What you should do if you receive a call, voice mail or text: If you receive a phone call, voice mail or text message stating there is a problem with your account and/or requesting or confirming any personal information (e.g. social security number, account numbers, birthday, PIN [Personal Identification Number], etc.) in order to protect your account, immediately hang up the phone or delete the voice or text message. Your caller ID may even show the number as coming from Oneida Savings Bank. Do not answer the questions or take any action as requested (e.g. press "1" to speak to the security department, call a given phone number, visit an Internet site, etc.) After you receive this call/text or voice mail message, please contact Oneida Savings directly at (315) 363-2000 or 1-800-211-0564 to validate or report the call and request.
